Workshops with Geoffrey Tumlin

Here’s a brief description of three of my most popular workshops:

The Stop Talking, Start Communicating Workshop

This workshop provides an intensive day of higher-order communication skills training. Participants learn and develop powerful competencies for: (1) de-escalating harmful conversations & neutralizing harsh responses, (2) communicating difficult messages & communicating with difficult people, (3) using narrative, naming, and questioning to increase interpersonal influence, and (4) changing interactions by changing interpersonal communication techniques. At the end of the workshop, participants will have deepened their higher-order communication skills and will have developed multiple strategies for increasing their interpersonal effectiveness.

The Team Building Workshop

The team building workshop helps participants see the relationships between their own strengths and the strengths of the other individuals in their team or workgroup. The team building workshop begins with an individual assessment, an organizational leadership assessment, or both to directly situate the session in the realities of the organization. The team building workshop helps teams: (1) identify and develop the leadership strengths of each team member, (2) uncover team strengths and areas for improvement, (3) improve communication and collaboration within the team, and (4) connect to other participants while uncovering new ideas and developmental insights. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a much deeper appreciation of individual and collective strengths and a blueprint for using this knowledge for personal and organizational improvement.

The Communication Effectiveness Workshop

The sole focus of the communication effectiveness workshop is to improve the communication skills of every participant. In communication effectiveness workshops participants receive, (1) individualized instruction to eliminate bad communication habits, (2) a deeper understanding of their communication inclinations, (3) behavioral feedback about communication strengths and weaknesses, and (4) immediately usable tools for communicating with difficult people, and (5) versatile strategies for communicating difficult messages. At the end of the workshop, attendees will have demonstratively improved their communication skills.
